The Spier 21 Gables Sauvignon Blanc 2019 was sourced from a 14-hectare dryland vineyard on the south-west facing slopes of the Tygerberg Hills within the region Wine of Origin Cape Town.
Crafted with grapes handpicked from a very special vineyard on the slopes of Stellenbosch’s Helderberg, the wine was in barrel for 26 months.
Wonderful now, it’ll also reward careful cellaring with even greater complexity and softer tannins.
A bright, yellow-tinged beauty with a slightly golden core.
The nose immediately offers soft aromas of dried apricots & ripe tropical fruit. A combination of savoury notes & pure fruit gives beautiful layers of complexity to a rich entry.
Beautifully balanced and intensely complex, this Pinotage has concentrated flavours of dark fruit, spice and chocolate.
20 months of oak maturation has resulted in firm but velvety tannins.
The wine appearance is straw coloured with lime rim edges.
It offers fresh grassiness with bell pepper, passion fruit, green fig leaves and gooseberry on the nose. The palate is concentrated and richly textured with a fresh, green finish.
